Aryan Brotherhood
The Aryan Brotherhood (AB) is the nation’s oldest major white supremacist prison gang and crime syndicate. AB was founded in 1964 by a group of Irish bikers as a protection for white inmates in newly desegregated prisons. With an estimated 20,000 members inside prisons and on the streets, AB is the largest and deadliest prison gang in the United States.
Inside prisons, the AB participates in drug trafficking, male prostitution rings, gambling and extortion. They have also been hired by high-profile inmates such as Charles Manson and John Gotti for protection. On the streets the AB is involved in murder-for-hire, armed robbery, gun running, drug manufacturing/distribution, counterfeiting and identity theft.
Aryan Brotherhood members primarily hold to a white supremacist ideology, but they are, above all, a crime organization. The AB will work with gangs of different ethnic backgrounds if it is profitable and helpful for the Brotherhood.
