What do they believe?

White supremacists believe the Caucasian or Nordic races are superior to non-whites in physical, intellectual and mental attributes. They believe non-white races should hold a submissive position under the superior white race.

White supremacy violent extremists target the federal government, whom they view as willing participants in the subjugation of the superior white race. White supremacy groups also target racial, ethnic and religious minorities. Their methods include murder, threats and bombings.

Acts of Violence

In 1988, Frazier Glenn Miller, Jr., founder of the Carolina Knights of the Klu Klux Klan, attempted to assassinate Morris Dees, founder of the Southern Poverty Law Center. The SPLC is noted for its legal victories of white supremacist groups.

On August 5, 2012, Wade Michael Page, member of white supremacist and neo-Nazi organizations, shot and killed six people in a Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, before being killed by police officers.

Hoping to start a race war, Dylan Roof opened fire and killed nine people at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina.
